Finned Tube Heat Exchanger

Finned tube heat exchangers generally use air to cool or heat fluids such as air, water, oil or gas, or they can be used to capture or recover waste heat. These heat exchangers can used in a broad range of industries including oil & gas, power generation, marine and HVAC&R. Fins are extensions on exterior surfaces of objects that increase the rate of heat transfer to or from the object by increasing convection. This is achieved by increasing the surface area of the body, which in turn increases the heat transfer rate by a sufficient degree. Oil and Gas Industry Applications: Finned tubes are used in many applications in the oil and gas industry. Typically used in boilers and furnaces, their increased surface area allows for more efficient transfer of heat from combustion gases to water or steam.
